The number of Chinese shopping online will near 200mn by end 2011, nearly double that of 2008. About 350mn Chinese will spend more than 2trn yuan online ($360bn) by 2014, for a 2010-14 CAGR of 32%.
At that point, online shopping as a percentage of retail sales will exceed the US. By far, the hottest area is B2C, a $110bn opportunity by 2014 as consumers flock to both branded e-tailers like apparel maker Vancl as well as general merchandise platforms like Taobao Mall, 360Buy and DangDang.
